National MS Society: Lone Star is proud to offer camps to persons with MS and their families. These camps offer fun-filled getaways at accessible locations where everyone can enjoy all activities, regardless of ability. For information on any of the following camps, call 1-800-344-4867 (press 2).

Recreation Programs

Champ Camp is a three day two night camp for children living with MS and their families. It allows them to get out of their everyday routine and experience what it is like to be at "camp." Champ Camp offers a variety of educational and recreational experiences for both the parents and the children. Some activities include fishing, canoeing, arts and crafts, parties, archery, zip lining, horseback riding and making s'mores around the campfire. It is a fantastic experience for all!

  • There is no charge to attend this camp but everyone is responsible for their own transportation.

Camp Can Do (see the video from past camps) is a three-day camp for people living with MS who require assistance with everyday living. Campers enjoy a totally accessible, fun and unique "camping experience," while their caregivers can get some rest and relaxation at home. This camp offers educational and recreational activities as well as overnight accommodations in air-conditioned cabins. Some activities include swimming, fishing, canoeing, arts and crafts, parties, and archery.

  • There is a $40 charge for this camp and everyone is responsible for their own transportation.

Journey Camp is an exciting weekend camping experience for children or teens who have a parent living with MS. This camp educates children about MS while having fun. The activities at camp include arts and crafts, horseback riding, fishing, canoeing, outdoor cooking, relay races, challenge course, zip-lining, swimming, as well as educational games and activities to help explain MS. This is a perfect opportunity for parents to help their children learn about the disease and have their questions answered by trained staff. Children must be at least 8 years old.

  • There is no charge to attend this camp but everyone is responsible for their own transportation.

Family Discovery Camp is a three day two night camp for an adult living with MS and their immediate family. The entire family will enjoy a fun camping experience, while sharing with other families about the challenges of daily living with MS. Some activities include fishing, canoeing, arts and crafts, parties, archery, zip lining, horseback riding, and making 'smores around the campfire. Children must be at least 6 to attend.

  • Held in October at Camp For All in Burton, Texas. www.campforall.org
  • There is a $40 per person fee to attend this camp and everyone is responsible for their own transportation.
