This Week: our last week to take action!

Down to the wire…

TXH Texas Govenor's Desk Bill SigningTogether, we’ve done it! The dedication of Texas MS activists ensured that HB 1405 and HB 3017 were approved by both chambers of the Texas Legislature before key deadlines arrived. This is a huge accomplishment! Legislators have heard the MS community loud and clear.

  • HB 1405 protects Texans from unexpected increases to their prescription drug costs and provides notice prior to prescription benefit changes.

  • HB 3017 makes the ban on discretionary clauses “bullet proof” and ensures that Texans will receive the insurance benefits they are paying for and entitled to. It puts a decision by the Insurance Commissioner to prohibit this practice into Texas law.

Now we’re down to the final step. Governor Perry MUST sign each of these bills in order for them to become law. The Governor has the power to veto our bills or sign them into law, and it’s your willingness to join other MS Activists in this final call to action this session that will help determine these bills’ fate!

If you haven’t already taken action, PLEASE send a note to the Governor letting him know how important these two pieces of legislation are to Texans with MS.

Thank you to MS activists David and Deborah Rankin, Tracy Brinton, and many others for your testimony, support, and tireless efforts to keep these bills moving and make a difference in the lives of people with MS now.

What now? Now that our bills are on the Governor’s desk, what comes next? The session ends on May 30th, but MS activism continues year-round. Stay tuned for interim updates.
