Every other year, MS activists gather in Austin for an opportunity to learn more about MS activism, reach out to legislators, and advance the Society's legislative priorities.

In 2011, activists' participation was more important than ever, as Texas will face a budget shortfall as high as $25 billion. Activists spoke up to preserve supports for family caregivers, prevent cuts to essential services, and protect consumers from unexpected changes in their prescription drug costs.

Conference activities included:

  • Training on advocacy skills and legislative issues
  • Presentations by experienced lobbyists to learn the tricks of the trade
  • Meeting other people who are living with MS who also want to create change
  • Learning how to effectively share their personal stories with legislators
  • A visit to the Texas State Capitol to advocate for Texans living with MS

The next conference will take place in February / March of 2013! See you then!
