Support and Gear (SAG) volunteers drive vans and help transport cyclists who are unable to ride. SAG drivers are required to have a valid Texas Drivers License, proof of insurance, feel comfortable driving a large cargo van through tight rider and pedestrian areas, be able to lift up to 40 pounds and pass a background and DMV check. It is important for SAG drivers to practice patience and be able to handle pressure situations.
SAG drivers are encouraged to have a second person to help load the van and navigate, but there is a maximum of two volunteers per van. Before becoming a SAG driver, you must participate as a SAG in a designated Bike MS: Valero Recommended Ride.
SAG drivers must be able to work the entire weekend and pass criminal and DMV background checks
