2009 NATIONAL RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS:
- 6 approved disease-modifying drugs and new approaches progressing through the pipeline
- Faster diagnosis of MS and better clinical trials
- Consortium on MS gene research will help identify cause, new treatment approaches and prevention
- Pediatric MS Centers have helped 800+ kids and are getting data to aid understanding
Current MS Research at Virginia Commonwealth University
New funding has been awareded for a research project at VCU. Dr. Babette Fuss, Ph.D. has received approval of her grant for $496,697. This grant is for a 3 year term so that Dr. Fuss and her team may continue their research on "The role of focal adhesion Kinase (FAK) in CNS myelination." This research team will join over 350 MS investigators in the U.S. and abroad that are supported by the National MS Society.
