CHARLES S. LUCK III
Chairman of the Board, Luck Companies
Charles Luck started his career with the company nearly 30 years after his father founded Luck Stone in 1923. He worked in a number of capacities until 1965 when he was named president of Luck Stone Corporation, currently known as Luck Companies. During his tenure as president, Charles led the company through three decades of expansion and technological advancement.
Today, as Chairman of the Board for Luck Companies, he is a member of the Strategic Leadership Team, which is guiding the transformation of the enterprise into a global, values-based organization.
Dedicated to the community, Charles has served as co-chairman of the capital campaign for the Children's Museum of Richmond and chairman for Mary Baldwin College's Board of Trustees, and also as a member of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts' Board of Trustees. He has also held leadership positions in many industry associations including chairman of the National Stone Association and president of the Virginia Aggregates Association.
Additionally, Charles has been active in education leadership throughout his career by serving on the board of directors for St. Christopher's School and J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College Educational Foundation, as well as the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Board of Visitors, VMI Alumni Association and VMI Foundation.
Before joining the family business, Charles graduated from VMI and served in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of first lieutenant.
