A few tips and incentives to help Walk MS meet its goal:

1.) Please remember to thank your donors… We have updated the THANK YOU message in your participant center. (Thank You For Supporting Me & Walk MS 2009)

2.) Send one more email to those friends, family and colleagues who have not made a gift yet. Our experience shows that people need reminders to give and that additional gifts are raised post walk.

3.) Our fundraising prize deadline has been extended to Friday, August 7th. Help us hit our Walk MS goal by raising your fundraising total to the next prize level. Reaching the following fundraising totals will give you the option to select a gift card from either Wal*Mart or our online MS Merchandise store www.walkMSstore.com. Prize redemption letters will be mailed to all participants with a minimum of $250 on Monday, August 17th. If you raise:

- $250 you will have the option to select a $25 gift card.
- $500 you will have the option to select a $50 gift card.
- $750 you will have the option to select a $75 gift card.
- $1,000 you will have the option to select a $100 gift card.

Mission First – Donate Back!  Become a Mission First Member by donating your prize back to help us meet a 300% increase in requests from clients for care management and financial assistance.

4.) Host a fundraising event at a local restaurant, bar, retail store, grocery store or any other company in your community that supports MS. It’s easy! Anyone can approach the Walmart customer service desk or many other large retail stores, like grocery stores, and reserve a day to solicit donations for Walk MS and our mission. Many restaurants are willing to help you collect donations from customers – you just have to ask. Help us reach our fundraising goal by setting up a fundraising event this summer.

Care Management Story – Your Donations Changing Lives

We received a call into our Information and Referral Center (IRC) 1-800-344-4867 last week from the brother of someone in our Colorado MS Community that has had no previous contact with the MS Society. His sister, a resident of Colorado for 20 years, experienced a sudden and dramatic decrease in family income and she and her son were facing immediate eviction from their home. Compounding the situation, his sister lives her life to its fullest in her scooter while depending on public transportation.

Our Colorado Chapter Care Management Services were notified, a one-on-one assessment was completed and a care plan put into action. Within two days of receiving the initial call and just five days before eviction, temporary housing was established and paid for through our Colorado Chapter emergency financial assistance program and paper work was submitted for long-term housing assistance. Several community and family resources will continue to be leveraged to make this transition as comfortable as possible and our Care Manager will continue to help as long as necessary.

Donations made to the Colorado Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society through events like Walk MS make it possible for us to help those families living with MS when life happens. We thank you for your generosity, hard work leveraging donations and your commitment to our Colorado MS Community.
