We give voice to people living with MS, by lobbying for laws and government funding for people affected by the disease. We raise awareness of the challenges of living with MS and call for change. Our direction comes from a volunteer team of people living with MS, physicians, health care experts and care givers who understand the greatest needs of people affected by MS and the political environment in which we operate.
Our advocacy focuses on federal issues and local and state issues in Alaska, Montana, and Washington. Together, MS Activists take action and shape laws to benefit people living with MS.
Volunteers lead the way at every level of our advocacy efforts:
MS Activists work with the public and private sectors to benefit the lives of people with MS and their families. Most of our advocacy is directed toward the public sector: federal, state and local units of governments. Private sector advocacy could involve urging a health care insurer to fairly cover MS treatments or encouraging an employer to make reasonable accommodations for someone living with a disability.
