Continuing Service Coordinator: Responsible for providing follow-up contact to clients involved in financial assistance and service management. This contact will help ensure that all needed steps are taken in order for clients to reach their stated service goals. This position is an in-office volunteer position. Download description

Counseling Volunteer (pro bono): Depression and emotional issues pose a significant unmet need of the population we serve. Giving access to emotional support to those most in need will help alleviate these issues and improve the quality of life for the term of service. Download description

Emotional Health Volunteer: Responsible for working with staff to assist with on-going and one-time programs. Activities may include: researching resources in the community, maintaining counseling referrals in the Chapter database and conducting outreach to mental health providers. Download description

Financial Assistance Volunteer: Under the Chapter Programs and Services Department, the Financial Assistance Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating financial assistance requests, including referrals to other community organizations, agencies, providers and vendors. The Financial Assistance Coordinator will help connect people with MS to resources to help foster independence in living well with MS. Download description

Legal Volunteer (pro bono): Responsible for providing free consultations to clients who have been referred by the Chapter. Legal issues may include employment, disability law, long term care planning, and domestic issues. Download description

Money Management Advocate Volunteer: Provide ongoing assistance to clients who have been referred by the Chapter. Assistance could include helping client navigate billing and customer service interactions, setting up a system to manage monthly needs such as direct deposit and automatic bill pay, and basic budgeting. MS Activist: Meet with elected officials in your area to raise awareness of laws that impact the MS community. Download description

MS Volunteer Chore Services Assistant: Be a volunteer to someone living with MS in your neighborhood! Volunteers choose which tasks they wish to help with. Many people in our community need help with shopping, light housekeeping, laundry, cooking, and yard work in order to continue living independently. Most volunteers give an hour or two a week or twice a month. There are also on-call opportunities for those whose schedules don't permit a regular commitment. Your assistance enables people living with MS to remain independent in their own home. But the real benefits are the wonderful friendships that form! Download description

Newly Diagnosed/New to Chapter Contact Specialist: Responsible for personally contacting individuals newly diagnosed with MS and individuals contacting the National MS Society for the first time. Activities may include verbally articulating National and Chapter programs and services, providing emotional support, compiling and submitting contact notes, being the liaison between Chapter clients and staff, coordinating follow up with Chapter staff members and documenting all aspects of the follow up. Outreach Volunteer: Monitor the inventory of Chapter brochures, pamphlets and outreach items, filling orders from clinics and other service providers, preparing booth materials for community events and cleaning up booth materials after events. Download description

Shanti MS Volunteer: Shanti MS Volunteers are matched one-to-one with a person living with MS (Shanti partner) to provide emotional support. The volunteer is present to provide confidential, non-judgmental, non-directive listening – they do not give advice, but rather provide companionship and supportive listening to help empower Shanti partners to identify and meet their own needs. SSDI Advocate: Provide individual attention to people completing initial applications for Social Security Disability Insurance and/or the Supplemental Security Income process. Download description
