2005 Wisconsin Act 71
Creates voluntary charitable “check-off” for Wisconsin State Income Tax Returns to fund MS Programs. To appear on spring, 2007 tax forms and beyond, this “check-off” will fund MS Programs. Donations to it will provide financial aid for home and automobile modifications, durable medical equipment, respite care and other expenses.
2005 - 2007 Wisconsin State Budget allocates
Permanent funding for MS education and diagnostic services for low income women, within the Wisconsin Well Woman Program.
2003 - 2005 Wisconsin State Budget allocates
$60,000 to provide diagnostic services to low-income women, with symptoms of multiple sclerosis, and funds the 2002 law, on a one-time basis.
2002 Wisconsin law directs Department of Health and Family Services to
“Conduct a multiple sclerosis education program to raise public awareness concerning the causes and nature of multiple sclerosis and options for diagnosing and treating multiple sclerosis,” within the Wisconsin Well Woman Program.
Successes Nationally
2006 Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit
Covers both brand-name and generic prescription drugs at participating pharmacies, for eligible participants. It provides protection for people who have very high drug costs.
2004 Federal Budget
Allocates more than $100 million to study multiple sclerosis at the National Institutes of Health.
2003 National Demonstration Project
Offers earlier access to MS disease modifying therapies under Medicare Part D, for eligible recipients, on trial basis.
