We know more about multiple sclerosis than ever before, and aggressive investment for research discovery must continue. But all too often, these discoveries languish on a shelf, lacking the resources and funding to move into the drug development process. Now, more than ever, we must do everything possible to move that knowledge and those promising research discoveries into pre-clinical development and clinical trials.
There is significant cost and uncertainty associated with drug development, reflecting the lengthy process to move a drug from initial concept in a discovery research lab to approval by the FDA. This business reality makes it difficult to count on development of necessary new therapies without the support and resources to make it happen.
Fast Forward, founded by the National MS Society, focuses on expediting the drug development process, bridging the gap between promising discoveries and the commercial expertise and funding to move them forward. We provide critical funds to academic groups and emerging biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies involved in drug research and development. By connecting people, ideas, and resources, promising drug treatments can now break through barriers, move through the pipeline, and enter clinical trials - faster.
