Now that you’re a digital MS activist, make it count. Help spread the word right now.
At the Society’s Public Policy Conference, March 4-6, 2013, MS activists will visit Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. and speak with federal legislators about MS and preserving funding for two things: (1) MS Research through National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP), and (2) the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
- We must protect funds for MS research that will fuel future solutions to STOP MS in its tracks, RESTORE lost function and END MS forever (video). In part due to MS activist efforts, the NIH has directed about $725 million to MS research in the past five federal funding cycles, and the CDMRP has supported over $20 million of high-risk, high-reward MS research. We must keep telling our stories about how research impacts our lives to ensure that Congress continues to invest in medical progress.
- The FDA ensures that drugs and medical devices are safe and effective for public use and provides patients with confidence in new technology. Because of the tremendous impact the FDA has on development and availability of treatments and aids for people living with MS, we must educate Congress to ensure that the FDA has adequate funding to continue to evaluate therapies in a timely way.
