Commitment to the Movement
Giant and Martin’s Food Stores was the number one Walk MS team for the fifth consecutive year, raising over $550,000 in 2007. Since 2001 GIANT has contributed over $3 Million ($3,354,000) to be exact, to the National MS Society (this includes Dinner of Champions, Bike ride and other support in addition to the Walk support that they provide.
In their continued effort to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in support of the MS movement, Giant Food Store and Martin's Food Market achieved a record number of donations during a two-week campaign in March 2007. From March 11-28, stores sold $1 paper sneakers at checkout counters, raising nearly $490,000. The money goes toward funding educational, advocacy, research and local programs and was distributed among the six Society chapters in Giant and Martin's operating areas: Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. In April 2007, Team Giant, composed of friends, family members, associates and customers, was declared the number one Walk MS team in the United States, making it the fifth year in a row the company earned the title!
