Commitment to the Movement
Microsoft was inducted into the Society's Corporate Star program in 2007, an honor bestowed annually to corporate partners who have demonstrated exemplary support in their nationwide commitment to raising awareness for MS and their work with the Society.
Microsoft has made a significant mark toward ending MS. The company's support and involvement includes:
- The MS Technology Collaborative: This landmark venture of Microsoft, the Society and Bayer HealthCare is exploring the role that technology plays in the lives of people living with MS and how people with MS use technology to address the challenges of living with MS. This initiative will also help individuals take action to improve their ability to stay connected, informed and engaged.
- Windows Live Messenger's i'm Initiative: Engaging the Society in its innovative i'm initiative, which allows users of Windows Live Messenger to select one of 10 cause-related organizations to support while sending instant messages; in turn, Microsoft is donating a minimum of $100,000 to the Society in support of the initiative and to encourage cause awareness with its customers.
- Team Microsoft: Eight Microsoft teams have participated in Bike MS and Walk MS across the country; in 2007 Team Microsoft raised over $205,000 for the MS cause.
- In-kind support: Over $400,000 in in-kind technology donations has been provided to Society chapters.
