Designer Quilts Magazine

Julie Golimowski, editor Designer Quilts Magazine

Julie Golimowski, editor Designer Quilts Magazine

Mrs. Julie Anne Golimowski

Fundraising Goal: $3,000.00

Julie Golimowski

In 2006, Julie, my wife and the editor of Designer Quilts Magazine, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Julie has relapsing and remitting MS which means that her symptoms come and go without warning, and each attack takes a little bit more away from Julie's health. The effects of Multiple Sclerosis can be devastating. The only treatments available are immune system modifying drugs. Julie has to inject herself with the medication three times a week.
As most of you know, Julie and I have produced the magazine ourselves since the first issue in 2004. But since Julie was diagnosed, we have had to outsource magazine production to a graphics company. We thought this would reduce the stress and energy it takes to put out Designer Quilts Magazine, but unfortunately, this has not been the case. And so the summer issue is the last. A section of this issue is dedicated to Multiple Sclerosis. This disease, like breast cancer, strikes mostly women and we all hope that the quilting community will support our fundraising efforts.

I have been a subscriber ever since I found this marvelous quilt magazine at a tiny quilt shop in Mooresville,NC. I called the company to subscribe and talked to a very nice man who at the end of our conversation said his name was Joe and he was the publisher!
My grand-daughter has recently been diagnosed with MS. Our family is just starting to learn about it. Please accept the balance of my subscription as a donation. My prayers will be for you and everyone who has this debilitating disease. Carole

hi---i also have ms---in addition to rebif, i have been taking two supplements given to me by my dr.---one is neurosol and the other is sphingolin---i started on them when i had an allergic reaction to avonex...who knows what helps, BUT i was having symptoms while on the avonex, and i have had minimal changes since taking the supplements---that was about two years ago---iam also now taking vitamin d----i am sorry that you have to stop the magazine---but that old cliche about pacing yourself really is true---at least in my case---curiously, i have sometimes found it very freeing(i did say SOMETIMES)...
take care---i usually don't write, and i have been rather long-winded---but for what it's worth the neurosol and the sphingolin do seem to help!!!

p.s. it just occurred to me, I AM NOT in any way shape or form affiliated with the supplement companies---i am merely a quilter with ms who might have found a little bit of a reprieve from the fear of an ms takeover of my body!!!

My prayers go out to you and for a cure for M.S.I have a son age 43 with slow progressive M.S.He was on the original board as chair of the Kamloops M.S. unit.In 2001 he initiated his tour of "COAST TO COAST FOR M.S.".He was travelling on a power scooter.Due to the progression of his illness he was unable to complete the tour due to the progression of the disease. He did raise much awareness and all funds raised went to the M.S.Society.His dream was to start up an M.S.Clinic in Kamloops. As you know it can be very difficult to travel to another city for treatment.
Take Care.
God bless.

Julie - Our prayers are with you. I too have MS and was not diagnosed until I was 54 - too old to have MS or so my neurologist thought. I take Rebif injections 3 x's/week and so far they appear to be helping. Good luck to you and keep us posted on your progress.
