Mountain Bike MS Ride Presented by Dow
Join us for our final Bike MS Ride of 2008 on Saturday, September 13th. We are excited to announce that we will be moving the event this year to Island Lake Recreation Area located just off I-96 at exit 151, Kensington Rd. The trails here were re-established by the MMBA in 1988 and today it has become one of the most popular Mountain Bike spots in the Midwest.

The trail is a singletrack 14 mile loop that can be ridden all in one shot or divided between two loops. The terrain is mostly flat through gentle rolling grasslands with some medium length gradual climbs. The yellow trail, 5 miles, is more technical, but not overly challenging. The blue trail, 9 miles, is mostly flat with a couple of nice down and uphill stretches. You may ride any combination of the above trails and support will be provided until 3:00 PM.

The National MS Society, Michigan Chapter has reserved the Dodge picnic area to serve as the starting location for the ride. Parking is available here and day permits will be provided to all registered riders and volunteers. Check-in begins at 8:30 AM and the route will be open at 9:00 AM. The picnic area will also be the designated rest stop for the route with snacks, fruit and beverages throughout the day and a BBQ lunch will be provided to all riders that will be grilled on site.

We hope you will join us this fall for a great day of riding and help us create a world free of MS!

CHAPTER PRESIDENT TO DYE HAIR ORANGE!
Let's have some fun while we show the more than 18,000 people living with MS in Michigan that we mean business. Our Chapter President, Elana Sullivan, has accepted the challenge to dye her hair bright orange, and keep it that way for one month if we collectively raise at least $3.8 million between Walk MS, Bike MS and Longest Day of Golf by October 1, 2008. WE NEED YOUR HELP! We are the people who want to do something about MS NOW, and if we all work together we can create a world free of MS.

PROMISING TREATMENTS
Treatment GraphicStudies show that early and ongoing treatment with an FDA-approved therapy can reduce future disease activity and improve quality of life for many people with multiple sclerosis. Talk to your health care professional and contact us at 1-800-FIGHT-MS to learn more about ways to help manage MS and about current research that may one day reveal a cure.
