What will you do?

Name: Bill Pikarski

Diagnosed: August 12, 2002

Occupation: Personal chef; cookbook co-author. Ultimately I want to have a TV cooking series.

Hobbies: Sports—especially golf—and camping.

What movement means to me: Going forward. Creating change. I like to have a positive outlook on things.

One thing I’ve learned about MS that I want to tell you: It really opened my eyes to thinking more about others. That’s part of the reason I became a personal chef. I have clients with all kinds of requirements, including renal dietary needs, vegetarian requirements, food allergies and preference for organic foods. It’s all about helping.

What I’ve done to Join the Movement: I play in my chapter’s Longest Day of Golf event, and I helped put together Cooks and Cars: Recipes by Design, which has raised $6,000 and counting for the Society. My mom was working in GM’s design studio and was able to get permission for us to use a cover photo of the newly redesigned 2009 Chevy Camaro. And, GM gave us a booth at the Woodward Dream Cruise auto event. We sold 100 books that day.

The most interesting drink I have tried: Neige, an iced apple cider from Quebec.

What I’m doing: Finding more places to sell the cookbook. I want to get it on Larry King Live. I always think big.
