Name: Elizabeth Morrison, MD
Diagnosed: 2001. I don’t have a specific date because my diagnosis kind of came in pieces. I was told, “You have MS,” then “No you don’t,” then “You do.”
Occupation: I was trained as a family physician; now I’m an MS physician. There aren’t enough of us to have a special name.
Hobbies: Riding my recumbent bike or my folding bike or my regular bike or my BMW R 1200 RT motorcycle; writing music.
What movement means to me: Having a purpose; being able to get where you want to go, physically and mentally.
One thing I’ve learned about MS that I want to tell you: The benefit of staying connected with others in the MS community was something I didn’t know about, even as a physician, when I was first diagnosed. So one of my goals is to help others find that kind of connection more quickly.
What I’ve done to Join the Movement: I made it part of my work. I’ve found that the more you reach out to help other people, the more it helps you as a person with MS. I also am a part of the MS Technology Collaborative.
My other passion: The environment. My husband and I went on an organic wine bicycle tour in southern California. I’m not much of a drinker, but it’s fun to learn about something new.
What I’m doing: I was just on the Patient Power radio show. It was three MS professionals with MS ourselves. We don’t think there’s ever been a show like it.
