Name: Gail Gerber
When I Joined the Movement: When Michael, my husband, was diagnosed, and we decided we would find out as much as we could. I got in touch with the National MS Society right away.
Occupation: Former real estate salesperson and former school district office worker.
Hobbies: Michael. And I’m serious about that. When we play, we play together. When we take time off, we take time off together. We enjoy each other’s company.
What movement means to me: For Michael, it’s just being able to move. As far as the movement, I’d like it to be seeing a lot of change. The movement is an organic, living thing.
One thing I’ve learned about MS that I want to tell you: People shouldn’t be afraid of it. Knowledge is power.
What I’ve done to Join the Movement: I have quite a few hundred people that I email about MS at least once a month. I keep a supply of Join the Movement bracelets, and I give them to almost everyone I meet. And, every business I go into, I ask if I can put out Walk MS flyers. Nobody says no.
My favorite spa: 10,000 Waves, in Santa Fe, N.M.
What I’m doing: Seeking corporate sponsorships for Walk MS.
