Joyce Nelson, President and CEO of the Society, Recognized as Community Service Leader of the Year
President and CEO Joyce Nelson was recognized as the Community Service Leader of the Year by the Paul Hastings Law Firm. In its first annual Pro Bono And Community Service Awards presentation, the firm is honoring outstanding achievement in ten different categories.
According to the Paul Hastings’ corporate announcement, the Pro Bono And Community Services Awards build on the firm’s long history of recognizing partners who demonstrate leadership in community service. They extend this recognition to all the attorneys and organizations who selflessly donate their time to help others and thanks them for their dedication to serving those in need.
Ms. Nelson received her award as Community Service Leader of the Year for the exceptional community leadership she showed in her collaboration with Paul Hastings. The award also recognizes her for the more than 25 years of service she has provided to the National MS Society and for bringing innovation to fundraising, as well as spurring outreach and advocacy programs that benefits the millions of people with MS worldwide.
The other categories that were recognized were: The Hasting Award; Pro Bono Office of the Year; Community Service Office of the Year; Pro Bono & Community Lawyer of the Year; Pro Bono Coordinator of the Year; Pro Bono & Community Strategic Initiative Awards; Pro Bono Organization of the Year; Community Service Organization of the Year; and Pro Bono & Community Leadership Service Award.
