The Great Basin Sierra Office of the All America Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society was founded in 1960 as part of a nationwide network of organizations developed to support the overall mission: to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.
In fulfilling this mission, the division provides services for individuals with MS and their families, conducts a variety of fundraising campaigns, arranges special events to raise awareness and generate funds intended for research to the national headquarters of the Society.
In the Great Basin Sierra area, more then 826 people have multiple sclerosis. Including their families, friends and employers or caretakers, 5,782 people in the Great Basin Sierra area are affected by multiple sclerosis every day. The office's service area consists of fourteen Northern Nevada and six California counties including Lassen, Plumas, Sierra, Nevada, Placer and El Dorado.
This division is supported by generous volunteers who contribute their time and talents in a variety of ways. More programs are evolving each day. We need YOUR help and you can make a difference as a volunteer.
Spread the Word!
Studies show that early and ongoing treatment with an FDA approved therapy can reduce future disease activity and improve quality of life for many people with multiple sclerosis. The National MS Society's medical advisors recommend that people with MS talk with their health care professional about using one of these medications and about strategies and effective treatments to manage symptoms. The National MS Society is committed to ensuring that people with MS have the information and quality care they need to live healthy, productive and independent lives. If you or someone you know has MS, please contact the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at main.nationalmssociety.org or 1-800 344-4867 to learn about ways to help manage multiple sclerosis and about current research that may one day reveal a cure.
