A Walk on the Wild Side
2008 Wildlife Calendar, a Tribute to a Lost Love
Janet Watkins, of Brandon, Mississippi, is a 52-year-old mother of five, with two boys and three stepdaughters. She has also shared in her husband Steve Watkins' losing battle with MS since he was first diagnosed with primary progressive MS in 1985, shortly after their marriage. In 1999, Steve passed away at age 51 from complications of MS, leaving a deep hole in his loving family's life.
Since that time, Janet has made it her mission to volunteer and help fund raise in support of the MS movement. Most recently, she and her son have taken on the running of a rest stop for a Bike MS Ride.
This year Janet has found a unique way to both commemorate the eighth anniversary of Steve's death and raise funds and awareness so that someday other families won't have to live with the pain of seeing a loved one struggle with the effects of multiple sclerosis.
Janet and her brother, Paul Brown, the nationally acclaimed wildlife photographer and New York Times best selling author, put their heads and talents together to develop a calendar featuring Paul's wildlife photography that can be personalized by the purchasers via online demand printing. The $18.95 calendar is 11 inches wide and 17 inches high and $1 dollar of each purchase goes to the Society to help end MS.
