Welcome to the Rhode Island Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society!

Our Mission
The mission of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) is to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis (MS).  We achieve our mission through delivery of programs and services to people affected by MS and through support of research into the cause and cure.

Join us for a festive evening of fun and friends and the annual MS Holiday Party! The party will be held at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet from 6:00pm to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, December 10, 2008. Tickets are $25 per person.  Please click here to purchase tickets.

Rhode Island Chapter members with MS are invited to attend at no charge. We kindly ask that members with MS call the office at 401-738-8383 option 2 to reserve your tickets.

Holiday Party Sponsor

Individuals who are age 70? and older are required to make annual distributions from their retirement accounts. The distributions are considered income and taxpayers must pay taxes on them. The Charitable IRA Rollover permits individuals to make donations directly from an IRA to charitable organizations like the National MS Society without counting them as income and, consequently, without paying taxes on the donation. Click here to learn more!  To discuss this exciting giving opportunity further, please contact Jonathan Nierman, Director of Donor Relations, at 401.738.8383.

The application and application process for the 2008 Scholarship Program opened on October 15, 2008 and will close on January 15, 2009.

This scholarship is given annually to high school seniors and high school graduates who are the children of those with MS or who have MS themselves and are attending an accredited post secondary school for the first time.

For more information on the Scholarship Program please click here to be directed to the national website.

Financial Assistance Program

The Rhode Island Chapter of the NMSS offers financial assistance to those living in Rhode Island who have MS. Click on the following link for more information.  Learn more here!

A Call to Action

Thanks to significant advances in research, the FDA has approved several treatments that may alter the underlying disease course of multiple sclerosis, and early treatment is critically important.  People with MS should consult their doctors about using one of these FDA-approved medications and other effective treatments for the symptoms of MS.  If you or someone you know has MS, contact the National MS Society at 1-800-FIGHT MS or visit main.nationalmssociety.org.
