President Signs Continuing Resolution To Fund The Government Into Fiscal Year 2021
October 1, 2020
On October 1, President Trump signed H.R.8337, a continuing resolution (CR) that provides funding for federal agencies and extends many federal programs through December 11, 2020, into law. The CR funds most federal agencies, programs and activities at the FY 2020 levels and was passed by both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate earlier in the week. While the Society understands the need for a short-term CR to fund the government through the November election timeframe, we urge Congress to complete work on the final FY 2021 appropriations bills so that important MS research and programs are funded.
The CR also extends a number of health provisions. It extends funding, outreach and assistance activities for low-income Medicare beneficiaries and extends the Medicaid Money Follows the Person Rebalancing Demonstration and spousal impoverishment protections for individuals receiving home and community-based services.
The bill does not address any COVID-19 related needs or programs and the Society will continue to work with both the House and Senate on the next COVID-19 pandemic response bill.
