Society Guidelines for Hosting In-person Meetings, Events and Programs

May 6, 2020

We, at the National MS Society, look forward to connecting with you—in person—again, and we’ve
established clear criteria to guide us as we make decisions about future activities, to ensure we can
gather safely and responsibly. Decisions will be guided by the following principles:
  • The health and safety of staff, volunteers, event participants and the MS community are our top priority.
  • We follow the guidance of government authorities. When guidance is in conflict or ambiguous, we will use our best judgment keeping in mind our top priority.
  • We make decisions centrally as one national organization, however, these decisions may look different in different areas of the country.

About Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system. Currently there is no cure. Symptoms vary from person to person and may include disabling fatigue, mobility challenges, cognitive changes, and vision issues. An estimated 1 million people live with MS in the United States. Early diagnosis and treatment are critical to minimize disability. Significant progress is being made to achieve a world free of MS.
