About Volunteering

Our philosophy for volunteerism

Volunteers are an integral partners in the movement to end multiple sclerosis. Volunteers across the country contribute resources, time, knowledge, skills and leadership that infuse the organization with energy and passion that will move us closer to achieving a world free of multiple sclerosis.

Who volunteers with the Southern California & Nevada Chapter?

Individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and mobility levels offer their resources, time, knowledge, skills and leadership without monetary profit to fulfill a defined responsibility in support of the mission and help others.

Volunteers are involved in all aspects of the Chapter, from helping with mailings, fundraising events, to participating on committees and boards. You can work from home, via phone or internet, in an office or at events.

What to expect

Volunteers are given a position description, orientation, and on-going training. All volunteers work directly with trained staff to ensure that their assignments are compatible with their interests, skills and availability.

Benefits of volunteering

  • Become part of the movement to do something about MS!

Why NOW is a Great Time to Volunteer

If you are:

Employed: Volunteering gives you a chance to learn new skills, gain experience in a new field, and meet new people. We have positions that only require a couple of hours per week and can be done from home.

Retiree: Volunteering is a great way to stay active, stay connected and to share your experience, and talents.

Recent College Graduate or Current Student: Internships are a great way to connect your interests and what you are studying or have studied with the “real world”. Our Chapter has many short term and long term Internship projects that will give you a chance to gain experience in working for a nonprofit and of course build your resume and networks.

Job Seeker: Volunteering while you are also actively job hunting is a great way to keep you still active in a workplace setting. It gives you a chance to learn new skills, refresh old skills, try something new, meet new people, and to build your resume and networks.  Volunteering is also a great way to reduce stress and increase a positive sense of self.
