The Pacific South Coast Chapter works to improve the quality of life for people affected by MS in San Diego, Orange, and Imperial counties, and the Hawaiian Islands, and raise funds for critical MS research. Join the movement toward a world free of MS.

District Captain

The District Captain is responsible for monitoring the activity of congressional, state senate and assembly members relative to healthcare and disability issues.  They will also represent the Society’s policy interests and positions to their respective elected legislators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sign on to the email/mailing list of the assigned elected officials.
  • Monitor the elected official, legislative and district activities.
  • Attend town-hall meetings, issue forums and other in district public appearances.
  • Conduct in district legislative visits as needed.
  • Update and map the elected official’s legislative profile.
  • Help build Action Alert network.
  • Help with ongoing recruitment and coordination the District Activism Team.

Impact and Outcome 

  • People living with MS will see advocacy in action within their own communities.
  • The group will work to improve the quality of life for people living with MS.

Training

  • Training will be provided by chapter staff.
  • Activists will also receive a training manual and will be provided two in-person training opportunities.
