His Manchester franchise has been preparing and donating sandwiches for Walk MS since 2000, last year preparing 1,000 sandwiches for participants stepping out at Manchester Community College (MCC) in Manchester. LaPlaca, of Vernon, captains the MS Milers fundraising team, which over the years has raised tens of thousands of dollars in support of the fight against MS, a chronic illness of which a close family member battles. The Subway Restaurant, of Deming Road, will yet again provide Subway sandwiches for this year’s Walk MS, which takes place at 12 locations across Connecticut, including MCC, on Sunday, April 21.
