Dr. Mitzi Joi Williams

MS Center of Atlanta

Dr. Mitzi Joi Williams is a neurologist and MS Specialist at the Multiple Sclerosis Center of Atlanta, in Atlanta, GA. She earned her BS degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology from Emory University and her Doctor of Medicine from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA.  She completed Neurology residency, and a Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Fellowship at Georgia Regents University (formerly Medical College of Georgia) in Augusta, GA. During her time in Augusta, she served as Chief Resident in Neurology and served on the Graduate Medical Education Committee. She has spoken both nationally and internationally in conjunction with the Accreditation Council for Medical Education (ACGME) as an advocate for initiatives to strengthen partnerships between patients and their healthcare providers.

Following completion of her training, she was appointed as an Assistant Professor in Neurology, Medical Director of the Augusta MS Center and Medical Director of Adult Rehabilitation Services Georgia Regents University. During her time as Medical Director of the Augusta MS Center, she served a population of over 1,000 patients from Georgia and South Carolina areas. She is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and holds memberships in the American Academy of Neurology, and the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers.

She serves as a Board Member and member of the Clinical Advisory Committee for the Georgia Chapter of the National MS Society. She is also a clinical advisor for the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. She remains actively involved in clinical trials and her research interests include the course of MS in minority ethnic populations. Dr. Williams remains dedicated to educating others, especially patients and families about Multiple Sclerosis.  

 

FUN FACTS ABOUT DR WILLIAMS:

She is a singer and has done professional background singing with multiple choirs and groups.  She has been in a music video with a choir she recorded with in Augusta

She is a songwriter and has played several instruments including acoustic guitar J

She has an adorable 17 month old son named Chase
