Join us for the 2018 National MS Society Illinois State Action Day on February 14 & 15, 2018 in Springfield, Illinois. The Illinois State Action Day provides an opportunity for YOU, as an MS Activist, to share your story with lawmakers alongside the National MS Society on critical policies impacting people living with MS. Your voice is needed to raise awareness and support priority legislation.

This event is a two-day activity, with a day of travel and preparation, followed by a day of meeting with legislators (and return travel). Meals will be provided for participants. On Action Day, we have the chance to raise awareness, and raise the voices of people living with MS, about critical issues--and legislative solutions to address those issues.

Schedule:
Wednesday, February 14
Transportation to Springfield (from Chicago), and pre-event preparation (approximately 3:00-8:00)

Thursday, February 15
Meet with legislators for Action Day (approximately 9:00-3:00), and depart from Springfield

Transportation: While the Greater Illinois Chapter does not arrange travel to and from Springfield for each participant, travel costs for car mileage and train tickets will be reimbursed. The National MS Society will provide you with travel reimbursement forms at the day of the event. To conserve costs, participants are encouraged to share rides whenever possible. Participants may also opt to donate travel expenses by refraining from requesting a reimbursement. When scheduling travel, please plan to arrive in Springfield by 3 p.m. on February 14.

*Note: Please make your own travel arrangements. Train riders are encouraged to utilize Amtrak (around $21.00 one way from Chicago’s Union Station). www.amtrak.com, 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245). For your trip to Springfield on February 14, we recommend taking the 9:25 a.m. train from Chicago’s Union Station.Transportation from the Springfield train station to the hotel will be provided on February 15, pick up at 12:50 p.m. (approx.). For your return trip on Amtrak on February 15, the best option is the late afternoon train, which departs at 4:56 p.m.
