Jennifer connected with the marketing and public relations department in November 2012, asking how she could use her background in advertising and strategic development to help the National MS Society. Also, as a University of Minnesota professor, she was interested in getting her students involved in a real-world project to benefit the community.

Jennifer started her volunteer work by completing a thorough demographic study of young, civic-minded, socially driven people ― in other words, our future walkers. She interviewed test subjects at the university, asking them what it would take to get them to walk, wrote a proposal and challenged her students to come up with creative solutions to increase participation in Walk MS. Jennifer then handpicked a group of these young and creative digital, media and project managers to bring their ideas to life at Walk MS: Twin Cities. The project was a great success, and we are grateful for Jennifer's commitment to engaging young people in the fight against MS.
