Volunteering with the National MS Society

Our Philosophy

Volunteers are integral partners in our efforts to help create a world free of MS. Volunteers contribute valuable resources—time, knowledge, skills, and leadership—that infuse the organization with energy and passion. The Society is enriched by a large network of over 1,600 Chapter-wide volunteers who are excited by their work and empowered to make a difference.

Our Vision

The Society advocates an organization where volunteers not only work as partners on all levels, but where their contributions are also recognized, embraced, and valued. We welcome the diversity that our volunteers bring and we are committed to fostering the growth and development of the people who choose to contribute their talents and skills.

Our Mission

To create a world free of MS.

Individual Volunteering:

We host a number of events throughout the year and have ongoing opportunities to help in a number of ways.

Looking for a one-time opportunity? Visit our “Volunteer Opportunities” page to sign up for an event.

Looking for an ongoing opportunity? Tell us about your interests by completing our Volunteer Interest Form. This form will give us a better idea of how to utilize your unique skills in one of the many tasks required to have a successful event, keep the office running smoothly, and much more. Whether you volunteer once a year, once a week or every day, you can make a huge difference!

After Completing the Volunteer Interest Form:

We want to ensure our volunteers can get involved in something that interests them so we have a short screening process to help get you in the right place!

Screening Process Includes:

1.       Phone Screening

  • Follow up call to make sure you are still interested and any additional information you would like to provide. During this call we will set up a time for you to come into the office and speak with our Volunteer Community Outreach  coordinator.

2.       Volunteer Orientation

  • Informal interview to make sure you are able to volunteer in an area that fits your specific interest.

Group Volunteering:

Groups of all ages and abilities are invited to volunteer. We are always looking for youth clubs, corporate, and service-oriented community groups to lend a hand before, during, and after our events. Organizations in the past have hosted tents at rest stops or helped with finish line festivities during events like Challenge Walk and Bike MS. There are several opportunities for your organization to get involved. Our events are a lot of fun and make a huge impact in the world of MS!

Questions? If your group is interested in volunteering you can email our Volunteer Community Outreach Coordinator or call the office at 314-446-4186.
