    1. Benefits Counseling

      Trained Benefits Specialist will screen clients for eligibility, and help them apply for various City and State programs. Services include: Provided information to clients about public entitlements; screen clients for benefits; help clients complete application forms and obtain evidence of eligibility as needed; Follow up to ensure clients receive entitlements and advocate on their behalf if there are any complications.

      This guide is intended to help people with multiple sclerosis engage in self advocacy to better understand and guide their medical care, and, as necessary, manage their long-term care

    3. The Center for Independence of the Disabled, CIDNY

      CIDNY's offices in Manhattan and Queens provide benefit counseling, direct services (e.g. housing assistance, transition services for youth with disabilities, employment-related assistance, healthcare access, benefits assistance, and peer support groups), information and referrals, and recreational activities. There are no charges to consumers for CIDNY's services.

    4. Independence Care System, ICS

      ICS is a Medicaid-managed long-term care plan licensed by New York State for individuals with physical disabilities and chronic illnesses. Their mission is to provide their members with the health and social supports they need to live full and satisfying lives at home, in their own communities. ICS has a unit dedicated to people living with MS and works in collaborations with the NYC-SNY Chapter.

      Dr. Weiner is at the cutting edge of MS research and drug development, and he describes in clear and illuminating detail the science behind the symptoms and how new drugs may hold the key to “taming the monster.” In Curing MS, Dr. Weiner teaches us the “Twenty-one Points” of MS, a concise breakdown of the knowns and unknowns of the disease; tells stories from the frontlines of laboratories and hospitals; and offers a message of hope that a cure can—and will—be found.
