Physical activity is something people with multiple sclerosis (MS) can do to improve their overall health and well-being. Studies show that moderate aerobic exercise can improve cardiac health, stamina, and mood, and may help manage symptoms like fatigue, weakness, and bladder and bowel difficulties. Stretching exercises can relieve stiffness and may improve flexibility and mobility.
Many people with MS find it beneficial to work with a fitness instructor who is knowledgeable about the disease, understands how the symptoms of MS impact movement, and can adjust an exercise routine to accommodate different levels of ability. That is why we offer this free online training course for fitness and wellness professionals, including aquatics instructors, yoga teachers, personal trainers, and others who want to learn more about MS. The course provides an overview of the disease and offers specific strategies for working with a diverse MS population.
