General deadlines for research grant applications
March 1, 2021:
The National MS Society remains committed to funding priority research and has released a new Request for Applications
focusing on Detecting Multiple Sclerosis Before the Onset of Neurological Deficits, which is intended to support research that advances our Pathways to Cures Roadmap
. The Pathways to Cures initiative encompasses research aiming to stop MS, restore function, and end MS forever.
The Society recently completed a review of research fellowship and early career funding opportunities and have approved funding for new awards in 2021 as part of our commitment to support the research workforce. As usual, we plan to offer the annual opportunity for fellowships and early career funding opportunities in early summer 2021.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic has created a challenging fundraising environment that has affected our ability to fund new research grants. While the Society will continue to fund existing grants and fellowships, we are not planning to offer any new investigator-initiated Research or Pilot grant funding opportunities for the foreseeable future.
In addition to the recently announced request for applications, we anticipate offering new research support opportunities that advance our Pathways to Cures Roadmap, and we expect that these opportunities will align with many of the themes that MS researchers are actively pursuing. We will share these new opportunities as they become available.
