Government Relations Advisory Committees

• Be knowledgeable on the Society’s policy priority issues.
• Understand current issues at the state and local level that present advocacy opportunities and advise on emergent issues.
• Recommend and engage in activities to advance state and local policy priorities (legislative research, answering calls to action – action alerts, State Action Day attendance and in-district meetings).
• Provide input on issues to be considered by the Activism Advisory Committee for the development of federal and state priority agenda.
• Provide policy and political expertise as needed.
• Ensure centrally developed materials and resources are used in support of the policy priorities.
• Recruit and support volunteers as they serve in activism roles.
• Help advance policy priorities by responding to action alerts.
• Partner with the Healthcare Advisory Committees on issues related to access to care.

Each Government Relations Advisory Committee holds at least one in-person meeting annually with additional conference calls held throughout the legislative session. Additional time for supporting special projects, reviewing materials, and implementing strategies and tactics varies by committee. Each Government Relations Advisory Committee member serves for a one-year term with the option of serving additional terms.
