Description

Investigators are recruiting people with all subtypes of MS (participants need to capable of standing and moving unaided for a minimum of 15 minutes at a time) to investigate the impact of mindfulness training on balance and wellbeing in individuals with MS. This is a community-based intervention study where participants will take a free eight-week course in either tai chi or mindfulness meditation, followed by two weeks of no practice. Data collection sessions will last 1.5 hours and will occur at the beginning, middle, and end of the study.
To be eligible, participants must:
  • Be between the ages of 21-70 and diagnosed with MS.
  • Be capable of standing and moving unaided for a minimum of 15 minutes at a time.
  • Be available to participate for the ten-week duration of the study, including three (3) data collection sessions at the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus.
  • Have transportation to either Amherst or Florence, MA.
