Seeking Close Relatives of People with MS for Study

Share

Researchers at Yale University are looking for close family members of people with MS to help them discover the earliest immune system changes that ultimately lead to Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Who can participate?
  • Close relatives (parent, sibling, child) of someone with MS
  • Age 18 or older
  • Willing to give a blood donation, answer some surveys, and continue to be contacted in the future
Participants will be followed on an ongoing basis. All participants give a blood sample, an oral swab, complete a health history, and complete some surveys at baseline. All participants are contacted periodically (up to 4x per year) on an ongoing basis for updated health information and to complete surveys (requiring about 10 minutes of your time). Participants may be invited to give follow-up blood donations (optional). Participants may be invited to give other types of biologic specimens (like stool, fat tissue, spinal fluid) (optional). Participants may be invited to have an MRI (optional). One in-person visit in the New Haven area will be required; subsequently, the study can be done remotely.

Participants will be compensated for any biospecimens or procedures. If interested, please email us at MSResearch@yale.edu or click on https://redcap.link/1i349cpa to complete a pre-screening survey.
