Research in ADEM

Share

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) and other institutes of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) conduct research related to acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) in laboratories at the NIH, and also support additional research through grants to major medical institutions across the country. Much of this research focuses on finding better ways to prevent, treat and ultimately cure demyelinating disorders such as ADEM. Learn more about participating in a research study.

Accelerated Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis has established a large, longitudinal collection of high quality samples and data from subjects with MS, selected other demyelinating diseases including ADEM, and related and unrelated unaffected controls. Samples and data are available as a shared resource to scientists researching the causes, sub-types, and biomarkers of MS and related demyelinating diseases such as ADEM.
